Linville C. Riddle, 84, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at UK-St Claire HealthCare.
He was born on September 9, 1940 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Lester Riddle and Geraldine Campbell Riddle Decker.
Linville was a retired Kentucky State Police Trooper, having retired in 1988 after 21 years of service. He served on the security detail for lieutenant governor Martha Layne Collins and he also administered the driver’s license written and road test.
He was a member of the Lakeview Community Church and he enjoyed playing cards and working puzzles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Caskey Riddle, who passed away on May 29, 1999 and one sister, Charlotte Rice.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Fannin Riddle, two sons, Randy Riddle (Lisa) and Brian Riddle (Angie) all of Morehead, one daughter, Robin Purdin (Scott) of Cincinnati, Ohio, one brother, Roger Riddle (Helen) of Goshen, Ohio, nine grandchildren, Amanda Riddle, Amber Riddle, Courtney Hensley, Brett Schneider, Danielle Schneider, David Riddle, Brandy Bell, Andrea Baltz and Kelli Durbin and a host of great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 23, 2025 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Brother Randy Wagoner officiating.
The Kentucky State Police Honor Guard will provide a vigil and graveside honors.
Burial will follow in the Riddle Cemetery.
Visitation is after 12:00 Noon Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brett Schneider, David Riddle, Brent Riddle, Warren Hensley, Phil Wolfe and Amber Riddle.
Contributions are suggested to Trooper Island. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
