Lionel Kreamer Obituary

Lionel Rene Kreamer, 85, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on November 25, 2025, at his home. He was born on December14th, 1939, in Huntington, Indiana, to Marion and Amy Kreamer. Lionel graduated from Roanoke High School, where he was involved with band and choir, and was editor of the school newspaper and yearbook. He earned a bachelor's degree from Manchester College and a master's degree from Saint Francis College. He did a second year of graduate study at Purdue University in Fort Wayne. Lionel taught elementary education in South Whitley and for most of his career taught at Village Woods Middle School in East Allen County Schools. He served as choir director at several churches, with the most time spent at First Baptist Church in Fort Wayne. He was a tenor soloist for many works, including Handel's Messiah, Bach's St. John's Passion, Haydn's Creation, Bruckner's TeDeum and Randall Thompson's Nativity according to Saint Luke. Lionel thoroughly enjoyed reading, long walks, and giving piano lessons to many interesting people. He enjoyed feeding the birds and all the other creatures that visited the bird feeders. His favorite places to spend time while traveling were Maine, where he loved climbing on the rocks along the coast and just spending time by the water, and Brown County State Park. After retiring from teaching, he volunteered at the Allen County SPCA (now Humane Fort Wayne) walking the dogs, served meals with the Homebound Meals program, and briefly worked as an EMT for the Aboite Township Fire and Rescue Department. Lionel loved spending time with his family. He also greatly valued the support of his Faith Share group at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church and many friends and neighbors. He will be missed by his wife of 60 years, Ann Kreamer; his daughter, Virginia (Dale) Kreamer-Lutz; his son, Aaron (Denise) Kreamer; his eight grandchildren, Christopher, Caroline, and Michael Lutz, and Elle, Cameron, Casey, Maggie, and Evie Kreamer; and his nephew, Michael Huston. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lynne. Calling will be Friday, December 5th, from 1:00-3:00pm with the memorial service at 3:00pm at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 E. Wayne Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorial Donations may be made to the Fort Wayne Zoo or Humane Fort Wayne.
