Mrs. Lisa Ayer, 74, of Rome, passed away on July 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born on June 20, 1951, in Rome, GA, she was the daughter of the late Tommie and Martha Free Taylor.
Lisa is preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Phil Wiley and Joel Terhune. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she married Thomas C. Ayer, Sr., in December of 1971. Together, they built a fulfilling life. A member of Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church, Lisa cherished her faith and found joy in service her family, friends, and church community.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Tommy Ayer; daughter Jessica Ayer Poole (Zack) of Gainesville; son Tom Ayer (Emily) of Rome; grandchildren, Zoey and Myles Poole, and Mack and Mead Ayer; three sisters, Susan Wiley, Chris Millican (Steve), Ellen Kurtz (Paul); brother, John Taylor (Sandra); brother-in-law, Dan Ayer (Doris); sisters-in-law, Alice Terhune and Peggy Maxwell; along with a beloved extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will take place at Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. followed by a service at 12:00 p.m. with Dr. Philip May officiating. Interment will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Zack Poole, Barney Poole, John Taylor, Paul Kurtz, Steve Millican, John Ayer, Jeff Terhune, and Ronald Stamey. Honorary pallbearers are Noah Ford, Sam Ford, BJ Starling, Warren Jones, Tim McKelvey, John White, and Ricky McAlister.
Flowers will be appreciated, but please contact the funeral home regarding delivery times, as the church may not always be available to accept deliveries.
