Lisa Julie Burhoe, 51, passed away on July 12, 2025, in Carrollton, Texas. Her kind-hearted spirit, compassion for others, and love for humanity made the world a better place. She was a joy to everyone who knew her.
Born on October 10,1973, in Melrose, Massachusetts, to Tom and Joyce Burhoe, Lisa spent the first part of her life in New England before moving to Texas during her earliest years in elementary school. She graduated from MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas in 1992. After high school, she moved to Abilene, Texas to attend Abilene Christian University, where she was involved with the campus life and college ministry. Eventually, she returned to Irving, where she created a life for herself. She worked at the call center for Advanced Telecommunications Systems (ATS) in Dallas, she worked in home health care, and she also drove for the company, Uber. She became involved in the South MacArthur church of Christ singles, where she had the opportunity to attend a mission trip to Costa Rica.
Lisa had a light about her that could be seen a mile away. Lisa believed in humanity. Her motto in life was, "Be a kind human." And she spread joy to everyone she met. Lisa will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Lisa did not know a stranger. She loved getting to meet new people, but had a very special place in her heart for children and other people with disabilities. Lisa was the kind of person you could count on. She was love, life, and everything.
Some of her favorite things were: Disney, listening to music, watching movies, reading classic literature, and being out in nature. She loved going to the arboretum and looking at the flowers. She also loved going to the butterfly garden at the arboretum. She enjoyed going to National Parks, museums, plays, and anything involving the arts.
Lisa loved going to church and was a current member of Christ Church in Irving. She spoke about the people she loved there often, and enjoyed being involved.
Lisa is survived by her uncle, Winslow Burhoe, eight adoring cousins, and a host of extended family and close friends that loved her. She was preceded in death by her father Tom, mother Joyce, and sister Karen.
Lisa was a beautiful individual, and will be greatly missed. If you knew Lisa, you were blessed. Please consider leaving a memory, or sentiment below. And always remember her well. Go out into the world and spread kindness, just like Lisa did.
