Our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend, "Sweet" Lisa Ann (Amidan) Burr returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father in the early morning of December 15, 2023 after a long struggle with many health problems.
Lisa was born on October 31, 1971 in
Ogden, UT to Ronald J. and Bonnie G. Amidan. She loved the fact that she was a Halloween baby. Her parents called her a little pumpkin when she was little. As Lisa grew older she loved the fact that she could tell everyone that she was a "Real Witch"!
As a teenager, Lisa was able to channel her love and compassion for animals and had the opportunity to raise Guide Dogs for the Blind for seven years. Lisa had a special gift of caring for animals. If anyone had a question regarding their pet and what they should do to care for it she was the one who knew exactly what to do. She was always willing to come and help with any animal problems or concerns. She was just as knowledgeable as most veterinarians. She did such an amazing job with her first Guide Dog, Mia, that she graduated Valedictorian of her class. Lisa and her family traveled to San Rafael California to attend the honorary graduation ceremony where Lisa was recognized for her outstanding performance. Lisa continued on to raise many other amazing Guide Dogs and purebred German Shepherds.
Lisa married her High School Sweetheart, Don E. Burr, in the Salt Lake Temple on April 6, 1990. Don was in the United States Air Force and so they were stationed in The Netherlands for almost three years. Lisa loved the time they spent in Holland. That is where she developed an appreciation and love for tulips. She always enjoyed working in her yard, perfecting her flowerbeds and tending to her garden.
Lisa and Don were blessed with their first baby boy, Cody J. Burr, on July 1, 1992. They were then blessed again with another baby boy, Coltn J. Burr on December 23, 1993 (Utah Twins). These two boys were Lisa's whole world until she was blessed with her two grandchildren, Owen and Ava Burr. Lisa loved being a grandma so much that she tended her grandchildren often, talked to any and everyone about her grandchildren, and shared pictures of them. Lisa loved to have them sleepover on the weekends for a special night just with their Grandma!
Lisa was a tireless and compassionate caregiver to her son, Cody, ever since the day he was born. Even though her health was not the best she always made sure that Cody was taken care of first and foremost. Cody was born with Neuroblastoma Cancer in his back and stomach. Lisa was right by his side while Cody endured over 70 surgeries, all while battling her own health issues.
Lisa's professional journey was in production at Fresenius USA, from where she retired in 2013. But, her true calling in this life was to be an Angel Wife to Don, a phenomenal caregiver to her Son, Cody, an Amazing Mom to Colton and his Wife Madi and to be the Best Grandmother Ever to Owen and Ava.
Lisa is survived by her father, Ronald J.Amidan, mother, Bonnie G. Amidan, husband, Don E. Burr, Son, Cody J. Burr, Son, Coltn J. & (Madelynn) Burr, Grandchildren, Owen & Ava Burr, Brother, Jason & (Jen) Amidan, Sister, Heather (Cory) Schlutz, Brother, Robert Amidan and several loved nieces and nephews and in-laws.
Lisa's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. As we remember Lisa, let us recall the verse from Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
Lisa's light shone so brightly in her life that her smile and laugh could light up the entire universe! And her light will continue to shine in the memories we hold of her. Lisa was always so happy and excited for others when they would have a good thing happen in their lives. She loved seeing all of the babies that were born into her family this year on Facebook. She always had a sweet comment and deep love for them.
Lisa was a beacon of light and joy, exemplifying the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints, where she was an active member and loved serving in the Nursery.
Her smile was contagious, her spirit was unbreakable, her strength was indescribable, her empathy, compassion and love for her family and friends was unwavering!
We encourage all who knew and loved Lisa to celebrate her life by sharing memories, stories, and photographs on her memorial page.
Your shared experiences will help us all remember the loving, beautiful, and strong woman we knew as "Sweet Lisa." She was truly a Halloween Angel Witch here on Earth.
Lisa, please give all of our loved ones in Heaven a hug from us if you can take a moment away from all of your beloved pets licking your face. And always remember that we Love ya Love ya Sweet Lisa.
