We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Lisa Gail Conner, who transitioned peacefully in the comfort of her home in the early morning of Saturday, May 3rd after an extensive battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family in her home on the north side of Houston.
Lisa held many roles in her life: a dedicated mother to her daughter Amber Conner, a loving daughter, a devoted aunt, a protective sister, a fiercely loyal friend. She was a caretaker and nurturer to many of us-including her small adopted animal kingdom of 7 dogs and 1 cat.
However, the role that brought her the deepest fulfillment and true happiness was her role as mammaw to her two wonderful granddaughters Kylie Monroe O' Connor (8) and Breeanna Nichole O' Connor (3). For the last 8 years of her life, Lisa proudly boasted about the love she had for her grandbabies-constantly showering them with love, laughter, and many many gifts; spoiling her granddaughters was one of Lisa's favorite hobbies.
Born in the small East Texas town of Jacksonville on September 12th, 1964 to parents Wayne Conner and Billy Ruth Baker, Lisa was the middle of four children (in order): Sheila Sue, Billy Wayne, Lisa Gail, and Sherry Diane. The Conner family relocated to North Houston when Lisa was just a small child, and she resided there for nearly six decades until her recent passing.
What made Lisa truly special to us was her sharp sense of humor, her wit, her giving nature, and her stunning beauty. Lisa was known by her friends, coworkers, family, and neighbors as someone you could rely on-whether you were in a personal jam, or when you simply needed a healthy dose of joyous laughter. She loved her house to be immaculate and took no BS from anyone. She was a very strong woman.
Before her passing, Lisa expressed her deep love for her family and friends, and it was important to her that we all understand how much she will deeply miss us. Although she is gone from this earth, her spirit will live on within us. This is a celebration of her life, not her death.
Within the last few years of her life, Lisa confronted her mortality with grace and grit, a testament to the woman she was. The intensity of how much we will all miss Lisa Gail Conner cannot be expressed in words.
