Lisa Johnson-Murray Obituary

Lisa P. Johnson-Murray departed this earth on March 26, 2024 in the comfort of her home in New Orleans, Louisiana, at the age of 59. She was born on October 8, 1964 to the union of Edith and Wallace Johnson. She was a faithful Christian who found solace in reading the Bible, spending time with her family, babysitting her grandson, listening to music, and shopping. Her playful and loving spirit followed her throughout her life and her devotion to God was evident in everything she did. Her early education began at Samuel J. Green and continued to Alcée Fortier High School, where she marched as a tarponette and was voted best dressed. She transferred to L.E. Rabouin High School, where she graduated. After graduating, she worked in hotels before becoming an Early Childcare Educator at Isidore Newman and Food Service Technician and Manager at various schools around the city of New Orleans. She formed bonds with many of the kids she encountered. She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Martin; father, Wallace Johnson; godfather, Deamer Martin; mother-in-law, Dorothy Murray; brothers-in-law, Brian and Jerome Murray; aunts, Bessie Pendleton, Mayola and Jean Martin, and Barbara Jones; and uncles, Linward Martin Sr, James Martin Sr, Bernell, and Charles "Wayne" Martin. She is survived by her loving husband, Tyrone Murray; daughter, Tierra Murray; grandson, Tye Newman; stepchildren, Ramon Coffil (Trina), Tyron Carmouche (Nadia), Ronica Carmouche, Kaniesha Holley (Ramon), Catasha Carmouche, Shane Williams (Symone), and Wa'Shanta Carmouche (Kevin Sr.); sister, Burdette Johnson; godmother, Carol Domio; and godchildren, Pernell Williams and Gabrielle Davis, and a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives, friends, and employees of St. Alphonsus School; also former employees of Sacred Heart Academy, St. Rita Catholic School, St. Joan of Arc Catholic School, The Good Shepherd School, and Isidore Newman School are invited to attend the Homegoing Service Celebration at New Home Ministries, 1616 Carondelet Street, New Orleans, LA on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Arrangements by D.W.
