Lisa Lindsay Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Redmond Funeral Home Inc. on Dec. 6, 2025.
Lisa Lindsay, 60, of Freeport, PA, passed away in her home on Thursday, December 4, 2025. She was born on February 2, 1965, in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, to Eileen and Ludwig Roerig. Lisa graduated from Delaware Valley University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry and a minor in Business. She also achieved a Master of Science degree in Biology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She had many careers including teaching Anatomy and Physiology at local colleges, completing surgeries as a thoracic surgical research technician, and managing a commercial swine farrowing operation. She also managed family farm financials, paid for school by driving tractor trailer (hazmat), sold sweet corn, substitute taught, and created and served school lunch. Her favorite role, however, was raising her five children. Lisa had an incredible number of achievements, passions, and hobbies. She was passionate about helping her children, family, and friends with anything and everything. Hobbies that she enjoyed included baking things like her famous cheesecake, pies, and cakes. Lisa also made incredible truffle and turtle candies as well as applesauce, wine, jellies, and jams for which she received many ribbons at the Great Dayton Fair. Lisa would go on to make several entries to the Pennsylvania State Farm Show. She enjoyed spending time relaxing in the pool, beekeeping, picking berries and flowers, riding motorcycles, and antiquing. Lisa won the NJ State 4-H Square dancing competition with her 4-H team and her brother Adam. There was never a time when she didn't have at least a few restoration projects in progress. Lisa was a musician, too. She played piccolo for the National FFA Band, and played flute, piano, and organ. Lisa had a passion for livestock, growing up showing cattle placing highly in showmanship, holding offices in FFA & 4-H, and competing with her collegiate livestock judging team. She was heavily involved with 4-H, including being a club leader for many years. She operated a pig breeding program to provide children with affordable, quality animals to take to the fair. One of her most enjoyed past times was quilting. This year she placed second in the Dayton Fair Quilt Block Contest; the first year of the contest. All of her children find great comfort being surrounded by her many masterpieces in their homes. Lisa was an incredible mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend. She had very deep compassion, love, kindness, and commitment to family inherent to her personality. She was the best giver of hugs and comfort. Her bravery, strength, resilience, ferocity, perseverance, tenacity, and patience are all attributes her family aspires to have. She had a powerfully strong work ethic supported by her brilliance, unwavering perfectionism, creativity, and problem-solving abilities (also known to her family as "Roerigging"). Lisa loved to surprise people with her quick wit and unparalleled sense of humor. She always made it a priority to have fun no matter the occasion. Lisa is survived by her husband Andrew Lindsay and their five children: Eli, Isabelle, Uriah, Amelia, and Olivia; her brother Adam Roerig Sr., her brother and sister-in-law Phillip and Laura Roerig, her brother and sister-in-law Danny and Amy Roerig, and many nieces and nephews. Lisa was preceded in death by her son Samuel Lindsay, brother Louis Roerig, nephew Adam Roerig, and parents Eileen and Ludwig Roerig. Lisa's celebration of life will be at 11:00 AM Monday, December 8, at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High Street, Freeport, PA, with the Rev. David Roth officiating. If anyone wishes to honor Lisa by making contributions to the Celiac Disease Foundation at www.celiac.org, research of the disease was very important to her. A favorite saying of Lisa's which encapsulates her personality is, "Do it right or don't do it at all."
