Lisa Ann Mahoney, a cherished soul whose life was characterized by her loving, courageous, and gentle nature, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her adoring family, on January 24, 2024. A funeral to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 302 W. Corunna Ave., Corunna, MI 48817. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment immediately following at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Rev. Dr. Tom Rundel will officiate the service and committal.
Born on September 2, 1965, in Owosso, Michigan, to the late Keith and Jacquelyn (DeLong) Little, Lisa's journey was one marked by devotion, joy, and a steadfast commitment to those she held dear. A proud graduate of Owosso High School, Lisa furthered her education at Ross Medical in Flint, where she became a certified medical assistant-a professional milestone that she regarded with immense pride. Her passion for helping others was evident in both her career and her personal life, as she approached each day with an unwavering sense of empathy and kindness.
On January 15, 1988, Lisa married the love of her life, Terry Mahoney, in a ceremony that celebrated their shared values and dreams. Their union was a testament to partnership and affection, creating a family that would grow to include their beloved children, April (Jacob) Wilkins, Ashley (Christopher) Mead, and Brandon (Karli) Mahoney. Lisa's role as a mother was one of her most treasured, and she poured her heart into nurturing her family with every ounce of her being.
The joy of grandparenthood was a gift that Lisa and Terry cherished deeply. Their lives were enriched by the presence of their eight grandchildren: Rex, Wyatt, Jase, Charlotte, Mason, Lincoln, Emmett, and Callie. Each grandchild was a beacon of hope and a source of immeasurable happiness, with Lisa embracing every opportunity to create lasting memories with them.
Lisa's life was further blessed by the companionship of her siblings, who stood by her through life's trials and triumphs. She is survived by Kitty Lyon, Keith (Melanie) Little Jr., Dawn Watson, Charles Little, Cheryl (Ed) Cords, and Scott (Sharry) Little. The bond she shared with her family was unbreakable, as she dedicated her life to children. She was a mom to everyone including nieces, nephews, cousins and their friends; she was a foster parent to many and her presence will be profoundly missed by each of them. She now joins those who have journeyed before her, both of her parents and her sister-in-law, Jackie Little.
In the quiet moments, Lisa found solace and comfort in the presence of her loyal canine companion, Lexi-Lou. Their special connection was a source of peace and joy for Lisa, with Lexi-Lou knowing precisely how to provide comfort when it was most needed.
Lisa's legacy is one of love and resilience. She faced life's challenges with grace and determination, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit, characterized by its gentleness and fortitude, will continue to inspire her family and friends.
As we bid farewell to Lisa Ann Mahoney, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with laughter, love, and the kind of courage that quietly moves mountains. In honoring her memory, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the American Diabetes Association.
