Lisa Terribile Obituary

Published by Guilford Funeral Home from Apr. 25 to Apr. 26, 2011.
Lisa Larsen Terribile passed away at the Gaylord Specialty Healthcare Hospital on Thursday April 21, 2011 after her battle with pancreatic cancer. She passed in the comfort of her loving family. Lisa was born on October 30, 1953 in New Haven, Connecticut and was the daughter of the late Richard and Betsey Larsen. She grew up in Guilford, Connecticut where she fell in love with and married her dear husband, Thomas A. Terribile on October 28, 1972. Lisa provided support and love for her husband throughout his service in the United States Air Force in Oscoda, Michigan before returning home to Guilford and eventually settling in Clinton. It was in Clinton where Lisa began her life's work as an amazing, loving, caring, and dedicated mother to her four beautiful children: Kiersten Terribile of Clinton, Adrienne Dubuc of Durham, Nathan Terribile of Higganum, and Jason Terribile of Granby. Lisa's loving heart grew and her family grew to add her sons in-law, Henry Maikowski of Clinton and Clayton Dubuc of Durham, a daughter in-law Ashlee Terribile of Higganum, and future daughter in-law Morgan Thomas of Granby. She was the doting grandmother to her two granddaughters, Alyssa and Amber Maikowski, spoiling them with love as only a grandmother can do. In addition, Lisa leaves behind her 5 siblings, brothers Richard Larsen Jr. (Donna Larsen) of Old Lyme, Bradley Larsen of Niantic, and Jeffery Larsen Sr. of Guilford, her sister Betsey Geyer (William Geyer) of Nevada and lastly her sister and best friend, Page Putney (James Simler) of Guilford. Lisa, also, leaves behind numerous brothers and sisters in-law in addition to a large extended family including nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews and especially her partner in crime and deeply loved sister in-law, Alice Terribile of East Haven. She will be dearly missed by her entire family. Lisa's life was dedicated to jobs in which she worked with the general public. It was through these jobs that Lisa's love for all people was illustrated. She was known for befriending anyone and everyone and had a way of making every individual she encountered feel special. In the last 10 years of her life, Lisa worked in food services of the Clinton Public Schools. Her smiling face greeted the students who remember her as being motherly to all. It was not uncommon for Lisa to purchase lunches for students who may have forgotten their own and she embraced each student as she would her own children. She is remembered for her kindness, compassion, consideration, generosity and patience with those she interacted with. Services in remembrance of Lisa's life will be held on Thursday April 28, 2011 at 1 pm at the Christ Episcopal Church, Park Street, Guilford. Burial will follow at the West Cemetery, Route 1, Madison. A reception will be held following the burial at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Guilford, all who would like remember Lisa's life are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made in Lisa's name to either: Yale Cancer Center / Smilow Center, Office of Development, PO Box 7611, New Haven, CT 06519-0611 or the Gaylord Specialty Healthcare, c/o Development Department, 50 Gaylord Farm Rd, Wallingford, CT 06492. Arrangements in care of the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. For more information or to send an online condolence for the family, please visit www.GuilfordFuneralHome.com

Dear Lisa..., my friend…
This note goes out to you via the angels I felt Thursday at the services remembering you… You would have been so proud; as I’m sure you were, watching over all of your family as they sought bravely to comfort each other, while trying to share a glimpse of the unconditional love you gave them. I watched as your son Nathan comforted his father with an arm around his shoulders while Tom struggled with this reality. Your son Jason, spoke eloquently and honestly about the “motherly” aspect of you being a being a mother and, we listened as Alice (partner in crime) gave a tribute to your indomitable spirit, companionship and spirit of fun…... and compassion. I watched your beautiful daughters Kiersten and Adrianne as they honored you with their offerings of hope, and yet, true sadness of a mother not present. I cried with Paige; was proud of Jeff, Brad and “Bebo” as I watched them come to terms with this heartache… we also listened to the thankfulness of those brought into your circle of love…from your extended family… and your immeasurable friends
Lisa, I was privileged to call you friend and words will never convey what you brought to our lives…but there are a few that were mentioned that reserve repeating…

“angel with horns:” ...in the GHS year book from 1972 (not to mention a favorite saying of yours)

“Partner in crime.”I think a few of us participated in that…LOL

Bowling ball in one hand with a stick in the other hand…someone will need to explain more…I only saw the stick…LOL - we spent more time shopping for babies than bowling!

And to Tommy…

this is the hardest because we know what you and Lisa shared ,and how much love is a part of life. Please know Tom, Steve and I will always be there to support you and care for you all.

God Bless and Love you all …I am so grateful to have called Lisa my friend, am so thankful for her footsteps in my life. God Bless and comfort you all…Lisa was one of those very special people that dances through our lives and that we set our bars of standards by…Thank you Lisa for being my friend.

Lisa was a woman like no other, she had an endless sense of giving, generousity and love. She had advice and wisdom to impart, which she did with grace and love. Her soul is pure. She will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. She battled a horrible disease never giving in. No was not an option for her. She continues in my heart and I am so blessed to have known her and her count her as one of my angels. She truely is an Angel now with gossemer wings. God Bless you til we meet again, my friend.

Deeds of courage
Will remain.

Beauty created
Wisdom shared.
Is not lost.

One of the first to welcome us into our new home in 1984, Lisa was a wonderful neighbor. Always taking a genuine interest in what our kids were up to, always praising our daughters flute playing, our son's acting with the Clinton Family theater, and our eldest son's achievements. She had a very big heart. The neighborhood will not be same with out her. Our deepest sympathies to Tom, Kiersten, Adrienne, Nathan and Jason.
