Lisa Gayle Whitehurst Greenville - Lisa Gayle Whitehurst, 55, Greenville, NC passed away Monday July 1, 2024, at her home in Greenville after a sudden, shocking, short, but yet very aggressive battle with cancer. It is with the heaviest of broken hearts that we must express the life and memories of our loved one that had a solid heart of gold. She is already immensely missed and still and will always be loved beyond measure. She made it her priority to take care of everyone around her and had only begun in the fun of becoming one of her most valuable titles, being 'Nana' to her precious three-year-old grandson Landin. Please come join us for a time to gather and remember her in a special celebration of life on Saturday July 13th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Wilkerson located at 2100 East 5th Street in Greenville, NC. She grew up mostly in the Greenville area all of her short life and attended high school at North Pitt, class of '87. She went on to attend college at East Carolina University receiving her BSBA in Management with minor in Information Processing. She continued at the University becoming employed there in 1990, and continued to work in several offices over the last 34 years at East Carolina University; having the position of Budget Analyst for the final 15 of these years. She has always been a smart, caring, detailed, and dedicated daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, cousin, aunt, friend and employee wherever she was present. Her most honored and happiest accomplishment is being the best mom to her son, Rusty. Aside from always choosing time with family and friends, she also enjoyed eating out, traveling, going to concerts and amusement parks. She has always admired anything Ford related especially vintage mustangs, rainbows and ladybugs all since her childhood. Making time for hobbies always seemed limited but she had a special appreciation of stained-glass art and most recently developed a wonderful talent for quilting and has stitched many quilts of love for others. There was no hiding that she always put others before herself and would do anything she could to help. She is preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Louise Johnston, sister, Ellen Davis, and brother, Dickie Lee Hoff. She is survived by her father, "Poppy" Billy Whitehurst, her son, Rusty Ziegler and his wife Kim, grandson, Landin of Greenville, NC, sister, Victoria Olguin and her husband Juan of Walstonburg, NC, brother, Patrick Hoff of Norfolk, VA, sister, Rita Rogers and her husband Jeremy, of Greenville, NC as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and very special nieces and nephews.
