Lloyd was a great help to my Craze sisters and I when we were first starting our genealogical journey to find a Patriot in the American Revolution. Unbeknownst to us, Lloyd had already published a book about George Rogers Clark, the leader of the militia my GGGG GF joined and received bounty land for his service.

I just learned this and am devastated. He was a giant in genealogy research. He knew what he had in the Dallas Library and exactly where it was! Such a loss to the genealogy research community.

I was so sorry to here of the passing of my friend Lloyd. He was a humble and awesome friend that will be missed by all that knew him. I met Lloyd in 1976, my freshman year in college. He helped me with a college assignment that inspired me to write a book about my family. We have remained friends for 40 plus years. He was a man that possessed so much knowledge and enjoyed assisting others. I shall never forget my friend Lloyd Bockstruck. May God be with you until me meet again. Rest in Peace!!

I remember visiting the Chestatee Regional Library in Gainesville, GA with my 8 year old daughter in the summer of 1988. We had traveled from Arlington, Texas to attend a family reunion on my mother's side. This was when I had first gotten interested in something called genealogy. As luck would have it, the genealogical society was meeting that night. A man in the group noticed that I was in the genealogy section and proceeded to help me. In the process, he asked me if I had ever heard of Lloyd Bockstruck and I told him no. However, three years later I found myself working in downtown Dallas and making trips in the evening to the eighth floor of the Erik Jonnson Library where Lloyd frequently appeared. I was even fortunate to be able to talk to him a few times as we rode an elevator. This went on until 2007, when I found myself working in downtown Fort Worth. Those were some fond memories, not to mention all the valuable information obtained over the years from sifting through Lloyd's impressive collection. He was a gentleman and scholar in the true sense of the term. It was with surprise and sadness that I learned of his passing. I'm sure that he will be remembered by many, including myself, as Mr. Genealogy.

It has been a true honor and pleasure to know Lloyd as a teacher, guide, and friend. Our conversations ranged wide and were not always about genealogy. But when they turned back to that subject, it was with that famous enthusiasm and love for family history he shared with us all. Lloyd, thank you for all you taught me- I will miss you.

I knew Lloyd as a member of my high school graduation class of 1963 in Vandalia, IL. I recently chatted with him by phone and learned of his extensive travels all over the world. We share that interest and talked of our many journeys. I am very saddened to hear of his passing. RIP Lloyd!

Lloyd was a titan in the field of Genealogy, whose influence and guidance touched legions. His legacy is preserved in the countless students of his lectures and patrons of the Dallas Public Library's Genealogy section, in perpetuity. He left us much too soon.
