Lloyd Durr Obituary

Lloyd was born on June 12, 1932 to Edward and Mary Jane Peak Durr on the family farm in rural Jasper County, Iowa. He attended country school and then attended Grinnell High School.

Lloyd was united in marriage to Virginia Bailey on December 22, 1952 in Iowa City, Iowa. To this union five sons were born. Lloyd farmed and raised livestock, wild horses, buffalos and other exotic animals throughout his life. In addition to his farm and cattle he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, horse shows, truck pulls, and stock car races. His other enjoyments included bowling, hunting, and camping at the Iowa State Fair.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia Durr of Grinnell; his sons, Rick (Andrea) Durr of Lake Rathbun, Iowa, Gary (Sandy) Durr of Grinnell, Mike (Connie) Durr of Montezuma, Iowa, David (Laura) Durr of Montezuma, and Denny Durr of Grinnell; 6 grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, Chase, Jenna, Lyndie (Adam Mann) and Dylan Durr; 4 step grandchildren, Aaron Williams, Tait, Jed and Eli VanZante; his sister, Margaret Clark of Grinnell; and his brother, Don (Evelyn) Durr of Orlando, Florida.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents.

He will be missed with his knowledge of horses that he accumulated over the years and I will miss visiting with him at the Grinnell shows. Nice man. My condolences to the family.
