Lloyd Voyne Omps

Lloyd Voyne Omps, 82, of Claysville, entered into rest with his Lord and Savior Saturday, March 23, 2024. Born March 31, 1941, he was a son of the late Gertrude Main Omps and Lloyd Willard Omps; and grandson of the late Irl and Ethel Omps of Winchester, Va. He graduated from Claysville High School in 1959, and West Penn Tech in 1961. Lloyd served his country in the Army from 1961-1963, spending 18 months as a radio operator in Germany. He worked for Haughton Elevator Company in Pittsburgh. Lloyd was a certified to inspect elevators/escalators in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, and West Virginia, and worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. for 25 years. He then inspected elevators for the state of Ohio for 10 years, retiring in 2003. He loved the outdoors, nature, camping, hunting, fishing, and motorcycle riding. He is survived by his wife, Rose Mahan Omps; two daughters, Cindy (Don) Urbansky and Lisa (Charles) Weber; his grandchildren, Justin, Makayla, Jacob, and Lauren; and a sister, Joan (Tom) Maxwell of Lebanon, Ohio. He was a founding member of Life Spring Community Church in Valley City, Ohio. Friends may join the family for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court Street, Medina, OH 44256, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 29. Burial will take place at Ohio Western National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
