Lloyd Scott Obituary

Lloyd Roger Scott

April 26, 1942 - December 16, 2024

Lloyd Roger Scott, age 82, departed this earth on December 16, 2024 to join his beloved wife and the Lord and Angels in Heaven. He was the son of the late Hazel Morris Scott and Eugene "Tennie" Scott. He was the proud husband of Donna Church Scott for 54 years, and a loving father and grandfather. Roger grew up in Nickelsville, VA and later attended Virginia Tech, where he met his wife Donna. Roger served the town of Nickelsville as a postmaster for several years. Roger served his country in the Virginia Army National Guard and the United States Army. Roger had many leadership roles in the National Guard, attaining the rank of Brigadier General. He loved doing things for his family and was always there when you needed him. Roger owned several Harley-Davidson motorcycles throughout the years and enjoyed multiple cross-country trips with Donna. In addition to his parents and wife, Roger was preceded in death by his sister Myralyn Shayne Scott and brother Ivan G. Scott. He is survived by his son, Brian and wife Brenda of Montpelier, his daughter Diane and husband Chris Murphy of Glen Allen, and grandchildren Lexi and Charlie Scott and Annabelle Murphy. Also surviving are his sister Irana Scott of Harrisonburg and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends at Bliley's Funeral Home, 8510 Staples Mill Road on Friday, December 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. with services starting at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Nickelsville United Methodist Church, PO Box 70, Nickelsville, VA 24271, or a charity of your choice. So sorry for your loss. Roger was my co. Commander in the va. National guard. Roger, Ivan, and I grew up together.

I had the honor to serve with BG Scott in various assignments during my career. He was an exceptional leader that always improved the organization to which he was assigned. I used to tease him about his southern accent and he in turn rewarded me with more work. It was a pleasure to serve with him and I will never forget his calm but effective way of getting things done. May God bless the family and Godspeed Sir.

General Lloyd Scott was one of the best senior officers I have ever known. He lead by setting a great example. He was always willing to inspire people and help them become successful. I owe a lot of my personal success to General Scott's leading and guidance. I thank God for all he did for soldiers!
