Lloyd "Mustang" Yates

LLOYD "MUSTANG" YATES, 71 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the Buchanan General Hospital. Born in Grundy, VA he was the son of the late Milton and Stella Faye (Osborne) Yates Cook. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and of the Holiness Faith. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and was a disabled coal temple operator. He enjoyed wrestling, church, anything outdoors and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 3-sisters: Sadie Marie Clevinger, Linda Price, and Jean Deel; 3-brothers: Johnny Yates, Lonnie Yates, and Floyd Yates; and a great nephew Kaleb Johnson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 43 years Fayetta (Stiltner) Yates, Grundy, VA; 2-children: Joe (Katie) Yates of Raven, VA, Valerie (Billy) Hale, Grundy, VA; Grandchildren: Ervin (Cheyene) Hale, Amy Hale, Courtney Hale and her fiancé Jason Coffey, Joe Yates Jr. Khristina Yates; 1- great grandchild: Kaleb Ray Wayne Coffey; 2-sisters: Peggy Justice, Vansant, VA; and Nina Jackson, Prater, VA.
Also, survived by several nieces and nephews and special neighbor Thelma Owens.
Friends called at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Sunday and Monday at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
Funeral Services for LLOYD "MUSTANG" YATES were conducted Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with William Proffit, Pam Fuller and Robert Deel officiating. Burial followed in the Dry Fork Cemetery, Vansant, VA.
Active pallbearers were family and friends.
Honorary Pallbearers were the Staff of Pikeville Medical Center.
