Locella Jane Oaks, age 80 of Kingsport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 29, 2025, Locella was born on October 10, 1944, in Gate City, VA to Cecil and Esther Tipton. Locella married the love of her life, James Oaks, and after 49 years of a beautiful life together, he preceded her in death on August 10, 2025.

Locella was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Paul Tipton and Dan Spears. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Ruth Cleek, Nancy Falin, and Alice Click; brothers, Hagan Tipton (Laura), David Spears (Judy), Ricky Spears (Dollie), Terry Spears (Brenda), and Jerry Spears; sister-in-law, Rita Tipton; special niece and nephew whom she helped to raise, Sarah Beth Spears Ervin, and Kenny Spears and their children who called her "Mimi", Zolianne Ervin, Marley and Paisley Spears; plus a host of other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home Kingsport from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Noah Bradley officiating. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Oak Hill Memorial Park at 1:00 pm. Locella's family and friends will be serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 pm.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home Kingsport is serving the Oaks family.

Ricky, Dollie, and all the Spears family, So sorry to hear of Locella's passing. She was a beautiful woman. I met her years ago. May God give you strength and comfort during this difficult time.
