Logan J. Thompson, age 20, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, in Saint George, Utah, due to complications from a cardiac arrest. He was surrounded by his family and held with love—just as he entered this world. He was born on June 29, 2005, in Boise, Idaho, to his loving mother, Michelle Casella Thompson, and his proud father, Rick R. Thompson.

Logan came into the world active and always moving. He played and excelled in a variety of sports growing up. Since Logan was young, he was always found with a board under his feet. You could see him skateboarding on the concrete, snowboarding in the mountains, skimboarding in the river, and most recently surfing the north shore waves of Oahu with his friends.

Logan lived a life filled with laughter, loyalty, and genuine connection. He had a natural ability to bring people together and make those around him feel seen, valued, and welcome. Known for his kind heart, playful sense of humor, and adventurous spirit, Logan embraced life fully and left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Family meant everything to Logan. He shared a close and special bond with his parents and adored his sisters, whom he considered not only siblings but his closest friends. Whether through shared memories, inside jokes, listening to music, texts, or quiet moments, Logan showed his love through his presence, his protectiveness, and his unwavering support.

Logan’s friendships were deep and meaningful. He was the kind of person others could rely on—someone who listened without judgment, offered encouragement freely, and brought light into even the hardest days. His smile, laughter, and compassion will be remembered long after his passing.

Logan graduated from Crimson Cliffs High School in 2023, where he was actively involved in school life. He contributed to the yearbook, founded and created the school’s first bowling club, ran on the cross-country team, and played tennis. Logan was a top three finalist in Utah SkillsUSA, earning the opportunity to compete at the national level in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a seminary graduate and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. At the time of his passing, Logan was in his junior year at Brigham Young University–Hawaii, where he was majoring in Accounting and working toward a bright future. Although his major was accounting, his true major was surfing.

Logan truly embraced Hawaii living since moving there after graduation. He could be seen on campus or on the beach with a dark tan, no shoes, varying hair styles, and a radiating smile that caused others to smile also. He was always on the go with playing intramurals, going to the gym, thrifting, taking pictures, and making sure his outfit looked good each day. His style was like him, very unique and true to himself.

Logan was never alone and was always surrounded by friends. His best friend on campus was his older sister and together they made memories that will be cherished forever. Logan knew everyone and he made them feel like they were special, valued, seen, and his best friend. Since he was young, he drew people in and made them better than he found them.

Logan’s faith in his Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ, guided his life and decisions and was the source of the joy he carried with him. He sought to follow the Savior’s example through kindness, integrity, and love for others. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)

Logan is survived by his parents, Rick and Michelle Thompson; his two sisters and best friends, Gabriella (22) and Marliana (14); his paternal grandmother, Faye Thompson; and a large Ohana (family) of fun and loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Logan was preceded in death and lovingly embraced by his maternal grandparents, John and Selva Casella; his paternal grandfather, James Lynn Thompson; his paternal aunt, Jeanette Thompson; his great maternal uncle Nano Casella, and his paternal great-uncle, Leon Rasmussen.

Logan will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious smile, his love of adventure, his effortlessly “cool” attitude, and the Christlike love he shared with all who knew him. We invite all who knew and loved Logan to honor his legacy by following his example and choosing to “Live Like Logan.”
