Lois Allen, age 77, of Piedmont, WV, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at the residence of her daughter in Cumberland, MD while under the care of UPMC Western Maryland Hospice..
Born on August 26, 1948 in Pittsburgh, PA, Lois was the beloved daughter of William and Eleanor (Cotton) Bowra. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Clark, Tony, Scott, Calvin and Billy, and sisters, Priscilla, Eleanor, and Gloria.
Lois was a dedicated and compassionate woman who devoted her life to caring for others. She worked for many years as a nurse's aide at Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, where she brought comfort and joy to countless patients. Her spirit of service extended beyond her career into her personal life, as she was a devoted member of the Piedmont Pentecostal Holiness Church. Together with her husband, they ministered to their congregation, sharing their faith through service and song.
Music was a very important aspect of Lois' life; she loved singing and praising the Lord in song. She also had a passion for cooking, baking, and gardening, hobbies she used to bring her loved ones together. Above all, Lois was dedicated to her family, relishing every moment spent with her children, exercising with her grandchildren when they were younger and her great-grandson.
Lois leaves behind a loving family: her husband of 55 years, Darnell Arthur Allen, Sr., children, Loleta Dineen Allen of Cumberland, Darla Faye Allen of WV, Darnell Arthur Allen, Jr. of Keyser and Diameda Tramaine Allen of Piedmont; grandchildren, Larae Darcel Allen and Dineedra Jonae Allen; great-grandson, Dinen Darnell Allen; brother Richard Bowra and sisters, Sharon Taylor and Mary Jane Koskey.
Visitation will be held at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. A Home Going Service will be conducted immediately following the visitation at 4:00 p.m., with Pastor Jeffery McGoye officiating. A repast bereavement meal will be hosted by the ladies of the Piedmont Pentecostal Holiness Church at the church following the service.
Condolences may be left at smithfuneralhomes.net.
Lois will be remembered for her loving heart, her passion for serving others, and her dedication to her family and faith. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
