Lois Marie Cumper (Smith), 64, of Atlanta, Michigan, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 4, 2025. She was born on November 22, 1960, in Seneca, South Carolina, to Arthur and Doris Smith. On November 29, 1980, Lois married the love of her life, Darryl Cumper, and together they made their home in Atlanta, Michigan. Their 44 years of marriage was a shining example of faith, commitment, and love, and together they built a family rooted deeply in devotion to God and to one another.

Lois is lovingly remembered by her husband, Darryl, and their seven children: Sara (Donald) Edwards, Olivia (Fred) Schoening, Aaron (Melissa) Cumper, John (Bethany) Cumper, Chelsey Cumper, Josh (Amanda) Cumper, and Caleb (Sandy) Cumper. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Allison (Nicholas) Breen; Joey, Parker, Sawyer, and Trinity Schoening; David, Ben, Ryan, and Samuel Cumper; Myles Cumper; Evelyn, Gatlin, and Griffin Cumper; and William and baby Cumper. She is also survived by her sister, Margie, along with numerous nieces and nephews who cherished her dearly.

Lois lived her life with a servant’s heart. She loved Jesus wholeheartedly and sought to share His love with everyone she met. Her dedication to serving others took her on mission trips to Guatemala and the Philippines, and her acts of kindness touched lives close to home as well. She was known for baking to bless others, volunteering faithfully at the local pregnancy center, and giving her time and care to the community food pantry.

For 35 years, Lois worked with Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health, where she poured her compassion and patience into helping others. She loved her clients and treated them with the grace and understanding that reflected the heart of Jesus.

A devoted member of the Assembly of God church, Lois found great joy in women’s Bible studies, worship, and fellowship with her church family. Her faith was unwavering, her kindness abundant, and her life a true reflection of God’s love.

Lois will be remembered for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and tireless generosity. Her legacy of faith and service will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of her life will be held at Tri-Township Fire Hall in Atlanta, Michigan on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 11 a.m. with lunch following.
