Lois Starcher Douglas, 76, of Barberton, passed away peacefully at her home on February 21, 2026, surrounded by those who loved her most.

Born into a large family with humble beginnings, Lois carried with her throughout life a deep

understanding of hard work, resilience, and generosity. Having grown up with little, she never

forgot what it meant to go without - and she dedicated much of her life to making sure others

did not have to.

Lois was formerly a longtime resident of the Portage Lakes, a community she dearly loved. She

was an active and vibrant member of the Lakes community, where her presence was both known

and felt. After later moving to Barberton, she continued to build meaningful friendships and

remained deeply engaged with those around her.

An avid gardener, Lois found joy and peace in the soil. She was always researching new ways to

improve her gardening practices, with a special focus on natural and environmentally friendly

methods. Her gardens were not only beautiful, but a reflection of her care, patience, and

nurturing spirit.

Lois had a servant's heart. She was always looking for ways to help friends and neighbors -

whether that meant lending a hand, offering quiet support, or driving her Amish friends wherever

they needed to go. She gave generously to those less fortunate, often without recognition, simply

because she believed it was the right thing to do.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Douglas, and her siblings, Bill Starcher, Larry Starcher and Gwen Starcher.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Alisha Berry; her siblings Dale Starcher, Sherlyn Tolle and

Lyle Starcher; and many dear friends whose lives were made brighter by her presence.

Lois leaves behind a legacy of generosity, courage, independence, and joy. She will be deeply

missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral service details will be announced at a later time.
