Lois A. Holycross, 93, of Bellefontaine, passed on to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine. She was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on March 16, 1931, to the late Alfred and Tempie (Stutzman) Buchenroth.
On July 22, 1949, she married Raymond S. Holycross Sr., and he preceded her in death on February 11, 2010. She is also preceded in death by her son, Raymond “Ray” Holycross Jr.; her daughter, Janet Holycross; daughter-in-law, Chris Holycross; and sisters: Jean McCloskey and Betty Smith.
Lois leaves behind her son, Steven R. Holycross of DeGraff and her daughter, Connie D. Akers of Bellefontaine; grandchildren: Julie, Steven, Greg, Jeremy, Ryan, and Jennifer (Matt) Willis; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Martha Cox; brother, Donald Buchenroth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was a graduate of Bellefontaine High School and not long after, she married her husband, Raymond. As a homemaker, she enjoyed keeping up on her garden and canning vegetables. She also loved crocheting and making people afghans and slippers. She loved Christmas time and loved making candy, cookies, and pies to share with others.
Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be two hours prior from 10:00 to 12:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Zanesfield Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1140 Rush Ave, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311.
