Lois Mortensen Klobus, 84, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024. She was born on June 20, 1939, in Ogden, Utah to Benjamin and Margaret Lowe Mortensen. She attended Ogden High School and Weber State College.
She married Brent Gibson in November 1959 and together they welcomed their son Shane in September 1960. Lois and Brent divorced in 1964 but remained friends.
Lois and Shane moved to Denver in 1969 and she began working at the United States Air Force Accounting and Finance Center. After several years she met Chief Master Sergeant Claude Klobus. They married in August 1981, moved to Indiana for a few years eventually moving back to Colorado which became their permanent home until Claude’s death in November 1998.
Lois joined a square dance club and met widower Norman Wilmot. They eventually became dance partners and remained by each other’s side until her death.
Lois enjoyed skiing, Disney, scrap booking, square dancing and loved sitting on the beaches in Cancun with family and friends.
Lois remained active in the LDS church, working in the temple and serving in the Relief Society.
Lois is survived by her son Shane (Tracey) Gibson; two grandchildren, Kyle (Brittany) Gibson and Paige (Jeff) Zielke; three great-grandchildren, Easton and Blake Gibson and Rylea Zielke; and longtime companion and friend Norman Wilmot. Lois is preceded in death by her parents, brother Benjamin, and husband Claude.
The funeral service for Lois will be at 12Noon, on Friday, April 5, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6465 West Jewell Ave., Lakewood, CO 80232. A viewing will be held at the church prior to the service from 11:00-11:45am. All friends and family are welcome.
The burial will be at 2:00pm, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 So. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO,
