I have to believe this is the same Lois Leubitz that taught Speech Communications at Evanston High School, Evanston, IL, in the early 1970's. The smile in the photos looks as I remember it. She was also the debate coach and persuaded me to join the debate team after I took her speech class. It turned out I was moderately good at it and, as a result, the three ensuing years were the best times of my years in high school. Overnight tournaments, winning some trophies, and, of course, the sometimes fleeting but fun friendships of teammates. She was a dedicated teacher and, looking back, a good mentor who was instrumental in helping this then- long-haired late-bloomer gain some confidence and start to think analytically. Lois hired me to judge high school debate tournaments for a couple of years when I would be home from college and I enjoyed visiting with her then. So sorry to hear that she died so young.

Lois and Joe were our neighbors in HP...our kitchen doors were only 10´ apart. We were frequently hopping in and out of each other´s kitchen.....young mothers at that time, shared all the joy we derived from our children.....adventurous times.

Lois and I connected some time during our undergraduate years at Purdue. We both were elected to Mortar Board, and shared many happy times, both individually and as a great group there. I had the wonderful experience of having Lois visit me in Oregon not too long after one of our fellow MBs and great friend Marla Shanker died. We reminisced about her and the good days,' and had a memorable time on the Oregon coast. She seemed to be her happiest, and spoke warmly of her family. A great lady and true friend.

Lois was my freshman roommate at Purdue. She was someone I liked and respected, and she gave me spot-on advice for college success. I'll always remember her maturity and encouraging words.

Thank you, Lois.

My dear friend and colleague, Lois was one of our best faculty. Always dedicated to her students and supportive of her fellow faculty members, she left a legacy of love and kindness. She was a good friend to me, from the time that I was a green administrator until we both retired. Godspeed, Lois.

Lois was a special person and dear friend. I respected her not only as a colleague, but as one of the sharpest, wittiest people I've ever known. We shared many laughs and exchanges of knowing glances over the years at Cedar Valley. Lois, you will be missed.

I was the vice president at Cedar Valley College when we hired Lois to be our Lead Speech Instructor. She took such a great interest in being a fabulous instructor as well as person. So saddened to hear this.

Such a sweet, giving and caring lady. Lois will not only be missed by me, but I know by many others too. I will always remember her gentle smile, laughing eyes and loving heart. Yes, there is a hole at the Mah Jongg table and a hole in our hearts. Sharing in your sorrow and offering my deepest sympathy for your loss.

You will be sorely missed. Your ever-present smile and words of encouragement and love were always just a phone call or visit away for my family's many life events. Little did Patrick or I know what a lifetime friend you'd become by simply enrolling in your class. Thanks for your friendship.

Our parents ,Mollie & David Goodman ,were good friends of the Kaplans & Shulmans. Growing up, Lois was always with a smile, a great personality and always made you feel at ease. No coincidence she became a communications teacher .
Our hearts go out to you all on her passing, taken much too soon. Please accept our heartfelt condolences.
