Lois Lewis Lowery, 85, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Volens VA on April 5th, 1940 to Johnnie and Clarice Lewis and was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving wife to Thomas Lowery Sr (T.O.) who survives and mother to Rodney who survives; as well as her devoted dog Dusty. She was preceded in death by her parents Johnnie and Clarice as well as her son, Thomas Jr (Scott).
Lois wore many hats and was always busy with projects, and spoiling her family. She worked several retail jobs before working for Wabash Magnetics before leaving to open her shop, Craft’s &’Tiques. She also sold ruffle curtains, and her and T.O. hung too many pairs to count. Once she sold the business, she went into property management for GEM Management, working for many years as the property manager for Woodcrest Apartments, where her residents were like family to her.
In her free time, she loved the beach and lake and to her there was never a bad time to fish. She often got up before everyone and would head to the dock to fish, always catching as many as she could clean. She enjoyed traveling to Raleigh spending time with her sons shopping and helping them with their homes and going to yard sales.
In addition to her husband and son she is survived by her sister Janice and her niece and nephew.
T.O. and Rodney would like to thank the staff at Sentara for her care while there, the team from 1st Care at Home-Hospice, David and Christy Watts and her caregiver Sandra.
