A Graveside Service for Lois will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Cemetery, rural
Carleton, Nebraska. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Evangelical Free Church in
Geneva, Nebraska. Pastor Jeff Jensen will preside over the Services.
Public Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with family present from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva.
Memorials are suggested to the Evangelical Free Church.
Lois Elizabeth McDaniel, daughter of Henry Asa and Katie Eva (Horner) Hoffert was born May 27, 1917 in
Moorefield, Nebraska and went to live with her Lord and Savior July 12, 2023 at Fairview Manor in
Fairmont, Nebraska at the age of 106 years, 1 month, and 16 days.
Her childhood was spent in the Bethel Community attending the Bethel Church of the Brethren,
Carleton, Nebraska. She was baptized in the Bethel Church in 1928 by Pastor Paul Bechtold. She spent those years with her mother, Katie; sister Ruth and brothers John, Amos and Joseph.
After attending Summit Grade School and graduating from Carleton High School in 1934, she attended McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas. She then went to work in
Lincoln, Nebraska, Spokane, Washington and High Point North Carolina. There she married. To this union four children were born: Alfred Richard, Sandra Rae, Betty Ann and Joseph Randall Kimrey.
Lois lived her life with John 3:16 being primary in her life: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life." Arthur McDaniel and Lois were married in 1967. They loved to travel. One of the many hobbies that she enjoyed, especially in those days of traveling, was crocheting. In 1987, they moved to
Carleton, Nebraska where they lived until they moved to Geneva in 1996. After the death of Arthur on February 8, 2000, Lois continued to live in Geneva, among many loving friends and her church family. She joined the Geneva Evangelical Free Church in 2011.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Booker Boyd; sister, Ruth; brothers, John, Joseph, Amos; young grandson, Andrew Mays; sisters-in-law, Mary Bowers Hoffert, Marilyn Hoffert, Lois Metzger Hoffert, Evelyn Milne, Lucille Haskins; brothers-in-law, Roy Dowdy, David Milne, Malven "Bud" Raff; stepchildren, Thomas McDaniel and Ellen Snell; and step granddaughter, Irene Snell.
Survivors include her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother-in-law Jim Haskins; step family Donald and Vickie McDaniel, Roger McDaniel, Virginia McDaniel, Jean and Rich Knapp and Shirley Delashmutt. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins.
