Lois was the oldest of five children, born to John and Lois Anderson in Jacksonville, Florida on April 05,1934. She attended Robert E. Lee High School. On March 01, 1954, married Eugene Gordon McGhee who served as the minister of Woodstock Church of Christ. She served in ministry alongside her husband from 1954 - 1980 in Tennessee, Florida, Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Georgia. Gene McGhee passed away in 1980.
Following her husband’s death, Lois started working as a House Parent at Christian City Children’s Home in Atlanta, Georgia. For the next sixteen years, she became known as “Mom McGhee” to children who were blessed by her nurturing nature, guidance, and unconditional love.
In 1996, Lois moved to Nashville, Tennessee to live with her daughter and son-in-law where she worked at Homestyle Bakery. She found great joy in serving as a volunteer at Lakeshore Christian Church - preparing meals, teaching classes, and hosting ladies' groups. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society. She loved spending time with her friends, playing games, going out to eat, attending Bible Studies, weekly gatherings at McDonalds for Bingo, and encouraging people with cards. She enjoyed spoiling the family and being a part of every celebration. She had the best sense of humor. Her love for the Lord and His word was evident to all those who knew her.
You are invited to join the family for A Celebration of Life service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 13th at Lakeshore Christian Church, 5434 Bell Forge Lane East, Antioch, TN 37013. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
