LOIS ROESSLER Obituary

LOIS ROESSLER 03/06/1931 - 10/29/2025 Lois J. Roessler, a cherished storyteller and beloved matriarch, walked gently through this world until her journey concluded on October 29, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on March 6, 1931, in Hamilton, Ohio, she was the only child of William T. and Olive C. (nee Cone) Stone. A life woven with love, laughter, and compassion, Lois will be remembered as a beacon of warmth in the hearts of those who knew her. Lois's love story began on June 15, 1949, when she married her partner, Alvin E. Roessler. They created a beautiful life that was illuminated by the laughter of their daughter, Becky. As a stay-at-home mother, Lois nurtured her family and her community. Her passion for literacy sparked her interest in helping in the reading program at the local school, where she spent countless hours in the cafeteria and as a Girl Scout leader. After Becky ventured into the halls of grade school, Lois joined the staff of the Southwest Local School District, where she embraced her role as the guardian of the study hall room for 21 years. Her laughter and kind spirit left a lasting imprint on the students who wandered through her door, and even in retirement, the joy of those connections never left her. Lois delighted family and friends with her famed fried chicken and gravy, creamed lima beans, and tangy sauerkraut. Her home was always filled with love, and her two rescue cats, "Pretty Boy" and "Pretty Girl," brought her infinite joy in her later years. Lois also held a passion for the elderly, inspired by her father's kindness in visiting shut-ins. She found joy in surprising loved ones with gifts and hand-crafted cards, each specially made to brighten someone's day. Together with Alvin, she reveled in sun-soaked winters in Florida, a beloved tradition they maintained until his passing in 2006. Lois now reunites with those who have gone before her, including her parents, her beloved husband Alvin, and dear son-in-law Leroy Foster. Those left to celebrate her life are her daughter Becky Foster; her grandchildren, Douglas, Tim, and Daniel Foster; and her great-grandchildren, Derek (Tina), Quinn (Haley), Aaron, Dean, Landon, Lauren and Tommy as well as her great-grandchildren, Lyla Mae and Liam James "LJ." Additionally, she leaves behind Jeana Ruoff, her dedicated caregiver. Visitation for Lois will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home in Harrison on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 10 a.m. leading into a heartfelt service at 11 a.m. Following the service, her journey will continue with entombment at Spring Grove Cemetery at 2 p.m. In her memory, the family kindly requests that memorials be made to PAWS of Dearborn County. As Lois once expressed, "Accept God's unconditional love in your heart and soul, and let Him have the reins of your life. His plan is better than you could ever imagine." These words resonate deeply, reflecting a life well-lived - a life filled with stories waiting to be shared in a celestial realm, where Lois's spirit shall forever inspire the hearts of many.
