LOIS ROSSITER Obituary

LOIS ROSSITER 06/01/1928 - 12/07/2025 Lois Ellen (Jensen) Rossiter passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, at Woodstone Senior Living in New Ulm. Lois was born June 1, 1928, in Eau Claire, Wis., to parents George W. and Grace E (Drackley) Jensen. She was baptized in Congregational Church in Old Albertville, Wis., and was confirmed in Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church in Elk Mound, Wis. Lois graduated from Chippewa Falls, Wis., High School in 1946, then moved to Tracy, where her family had relocated. She graduated from Mankato Business College in 1948. While attending college Lois held several jobs including house cleaning, caring for children, cooking at a hospital and working at Steinberg Creamery. After graduating from college Lois took a job with First National Bank in Jackson where she met John Rossiter. The two were married March 25, 1951, and had four children. The family moved to St. James in 1963 when they purchased and ran Gateway Window and Awning Co. where Lois assisted by making windows and awnings and doing the bookwork. In 1965 Lois took a job at First National Bank of St. James and worked there for 28 years retiring in 1993. After retirement John and Lois spent time as caregivers to John's sister Virginia Rossiter in Canyon, Texas, and then returned to St James for their retirement years. Lois served her church and community in many capacities; teaching Sunday school, serving as the church financial secretary; participating in United Methodist Women, VFW Women's Auxiliary # 1914 and Lois Club; working with 4-H clubs, the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, volunteering at St. James Nursing Home for over six years; and serving on various boards and committees in St James. She will long be remembered by her friends and relatives for remembering birthdays, for her most excellent baking and for playing games. She lovingly sent birthday cards to each relative and each friend year-round every year! As for baking, no one could compete with her skill and her joy in sharing the sweet treats. Of course, she enjoyed the delectable treats herself, as any baker should! Lois loved sitting around the table with family and friends sharing stories and laughter with endless rounds of Yahtzee and Skip-Bo. She was fondly known as the "Yahtzee Queen". Lois is survived by her children, Norman (wife Catherine and their children Melissa (Jon), John (Katie), William (Jessica), Allen); Richard (wife Shelly and their children Jeremy, Jessica); Jean (husband Patrick Parsley and their children Miranda (CR) Childers, Alicia (Bryan) Dahmes, Ellen (Chad) Lutz, Rachel (Evan) Hart, Caitlin (Daniel) Lun); Mary (husband Paul Taylor and their children Sonja (Barry) Mathwig, Cassandra); along with her brothers Dale Jensen, Dean Jensen and his wife Kathy, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lois is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, infant brother, husband John, sister Ardy, brother-in-law William Anderson, sister-in-law Cindy Jensen and great-grandson Garrett Childers. Memorials may be given to Cancer Society, Diabetes Foundation, Dementia Research or a charity of your choice. Cards for the family can be sent to Cremation Society of MN, Attn: Lois Rossiter Family, 1979 Old Hudson Road, St. Paul, MN 55119. Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
