Lois J. Townsend (nee Leverton), transitioned to Heaven on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Amherst Manor memory care after a lengthy battle with dementia/Alzheimer's. She was born on February 8, 1936 to Esther and Roy Leverton in Akron, Ohio.

She converted to Catholicism to marry Michael Zrelak. Together they had four children who were raised in the Catholic faith.

Her talents were many: cooking, baking, gardening, canning, sewing, tole painting and any and every sort of needlecraft that existed. She loved the latest and greatest kitchen gadget. Family and friends were recipients of crocheted afghans, hats, scarves, gloves, blankets, doilies, baby clothes and many of her own creations.

In 1975, she married George V. Townsend, and they made their home in Elyria, Ohio. George and Lois spent the next 18 years enjoying dancing, golfing, gardening and simply enjoying life together. Lois worked in the grocery industry and had many friends she developed over the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband George in 1993, her daughter, Mary Louise Thompson (of Norman, Oklahoma) in 2018; five sisters and fourbrothers; and special friend "sister", Kim Jaafil.

She is survived by her daughters, (Deborah) Susan Kershaw (Raymond) of Wakeman, Ohio; Karen Elaine Pace (Von) of Elyria, Ohio; Barbara Zrelak, of Frederick, Maryland; step-daughters, Pam Curtiss and Debbie Lumadue, of Elyria, Ohio; six grandchildren, Erica, Joshua, Brian, Lauren, Robert (Carmen) and Mackenzie; two great-grandchildren; and brothers Howard (Jill) Fetherolf and Donald (Becky) Fetherolf.

The family wishes to thank Wellspring Hospice and Valentina Papp for their care; the entire staff at Amherst Manor Nursing Home, and especially nurses Pam and Steve, and loving and compassionate aides Lisa, Amanda, Kelly and all those who made mom's journey as comfortable and happy as it could be.

Services will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 3700 Center Road, Avon, Ohio, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 12 noon. Please meet at the Chapel. Internment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
