Lois Waitze Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lois F. Waitze, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Lois left us peacefully on March 10, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family, who have been her steadfast support throughout her illness.

Lois was born to Irving and Charlotte Cutler on November 26, 1940. Her journey with her beloved husband, Peter, began at the Bell House in Sharon, Massachusetts, where they were united in marriage on June 17, 1962. Their love story, however, started much earlier, in September 1954, when Peter was 14 and Lois was 13. It was love at first sight, and their relationship blossomed into a long, loving, and hand-holding partnership that stood the test of time. Throughout her life, Lois was a beacon of kindness, strength, and compassion. She devoted herself to her family, creating a warm and welcoming home filled with love and laughter. Her presence was a comfort to all who knew her, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Lois had a special gift that allowed her to make every person she met felt seen, heard, and loved. This gift led to lifelong friendships that crossed oceans and generations.

Lois is survived by her husband, Peter R Waitze, 4 children, and 8 grandchildren, Dana M. Waitze and her children Joshua and Jason; Michael I. Waitze, his wife Kyoko Waitze, and their child Kyla; Alan S. Waitze, his wife Sunny Waitze, and their children Jacob, Hannah, and Seth; and Laura K. Waitze Zuckerman, her husband Mark Zuckerman, and their children Reuben and Iliana.

Lois will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her warmth, her smile, and her unconditional love have left an indelible mark on our hearts. As we say goodbye to Lois, we also celebrate her remarkable life and the joy she brought into our lives. Rest in peace, dear Lois. Your legacy of love and compassion will forever be remembered.

Lois's funeral will take place on Wednesday, March 13, at 9:30 A.M. at Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel, located at 8339 Old York Road, Elkins Park, PA, 19027. For those unable to attend in person, a live stream of the service will be available at https://www.kenesethisrael.org/stream-services-online/. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Lois's memory to Fox Chase Cancer Center, who saw her through the end of her life, at https://www.foxchase.org/giving/how-to-give. Lois's kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and it would be a fitting tribute to her spirit to continue spreading love and support in her name.
