Lois Mae Weldy, age 92, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was born December 11, 1931, in Crane, Missouri, the daughter of Montgomery and Tressie Evaline (Clevenger) Hartin.
Lois was a 1949 graduate of Verona High School in Verona, Missouri. Lois raised her family in Verona and Aurora. She worked at Juvenile Shoe Factory, the Aurora Community Hospital and helped her husband, Morgan, at Food Fair in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. She was active with Verona Baptist Church and Aurora First Baptist Church and loved to bake cakes for the church.
On September 25, 1949, she married Morgan Wayne Weldy in Verona, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2012.
Lois is survived by her son, Mike Weldy of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; two daughters, Betty Ferguson and her husband, Jim, and Anita Weldin all of Aurora, Missouri; two sisters, Peggy (Jack) Miller of Verona, Missouri and Reva Ledbetter of Nashua, New Hampshire; six grandchildren, Ryan (Kaisha) Weldy, Jamie (Andy) Glass, Rebecca (Bryce) Powell, Ben (Jodi) Weldin, Graham Weldin and Emily McCash; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and her beloved doggie Daisy.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Montgomery, and Tressie; her husband, Morgan; four sisters, Caroline Hartin, Ruth Bailey Williams, Joann Dalton, and Jane Weldy and five brothers, Dalphie, Larry, Bob, Gene, and Frank Hartin.
A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora with a graveside service to follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora. There will be a lunch following the graveside service at the Aurora Baptist Church.
Memorial donations may be made payable to Haven of the Ozarks in care of the funeral home.
