Lois Williams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 9, 2026.
Nearly 103, Lois McGough Williams passed peacefully at home in Riverwest Assisted Living, Wenatchee, on January 30, 2026. One of seven McGough siblings, Lois was born in Wenatchee on March 22, 1923. Her early years were spent in East Wenatchee, where she attended the Majestic Flats School on Rock Island Road. The family moved to Cashmere, and Lois graduated from Cashmere High School in 1942.

Lois worked for a short time as a "Rosie the Riveter" in Seattle, then following the footsteps of her brothers, she joined the US Army to serve during World War II. Upon discharge late in 1945, she returned to Cashmere where she agreed to a blind date with Donald L Williams. They married November 2, 1946, and before long found themselves raising a family of five children on their Flowery Divide orchard.

Once the children were all in school, Lois went to work at Frankie's Apparel in Cashmere. She loved being around people and excelled at helping them spend their money! Lois continued working retail at many stores in the valley including McBride's, Robinson's, Kids Count Too, Clark's Jewelry, Collins Fashions, and Christopher & Banks, where she ended her sales career at 85. Though retired, she never lost her love of shopping!

Lois enjoyed playing Bridge with her Cashmere Club, various family members, and later with Wenatchee groups. She had a green thumb, became an avid reader, and was a wonderful cook. Her holiday candy and cookies were legendary! She almost always had a very spoiled, small dog companion by her side.

Don and Lois moved several times, finally living in Wenatchee, where he passed in 1990. Wherever she lived, Lois always made friends. She met Loyd Reed while they were both walking their dogs at Garden Terrace. They became dear companions for many years, until his death.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, all 6 siblings (Robert, Beatrice Bearg, Carol Congdon, Gordon, Stan, and Kenneth), her husband, two sons (Dick and Chuck), and son-in-law Carlton Nash. She is survived by two daughters in Wenatchee (Susan Nash and Debbie (Ross) Crollard, son Bob Williams (Debbie) of Marrowstone Island, daughter-in-law Glad Williams of Wenatchee, 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Family, friends, and being on the move as much as she could, made for a fulfilling life. Within a sharp mind, dressed well, hair done, and lipstick on, Mom kept going strong until the end.

My deepest condolences due to the death of Lois. I was raised in Cashmere so I knew of her then. But my fondest memories of her was in the retail businesses, most recently at Clark's Jewelry. Lois always had a smile on her face and engaged with customers easily. She left us with a life well-lived.

Sue, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. She graduated from CHS with my Dad, Charles Quehrn, in 1942. Your Mom always greeted with a smile and loved to visit! She was an amazing, lovely person and my heart goes out to you and your family. Hoping warm memories bring you comfort at this time.

Lois always had a smile and was pleasant and personable to be around. And she certainly had the gift of gab which made her a gifted sales person. Always impeccably dressed. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family.
