As a big fan of Helmut Schmidt,his wife and daughter, I am deeply sorry over what happened and hope that the husband and daughter have the courage,strength,and inspiration to carry on. Loki--truly a fine example of what a person should be.

My wife is in Hamburg due the death of her mother in Norderstedt. When we talked on the phone today, she described the modest lives of the Schmidts and how much they have been loved by the people of Hamburg.

I was, and am, genuinely impressed by the fact that you choose to put the death of Loki Schmidt, wife of former West-German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt, on your website. As long as I had known about Helmut Schmidt, I had known how effective of a leader he was at all levels, and had also known of his fine marital relationship with Loki. My thoughts and prayers are with him now.
