Lolo Aparicio Villagomez

Lolo Aparicio Villagomez of Charcana, Peru, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026. We take comfort in knowing he left this world with the same strength and dignity that defined his life.

Our dad was born on December 21, 1939, in Arequipa, Peru, to his loving parents, Augusto and Alida Villagomez. He was named after Teodoro "Lolo" Fernández, Peru's legendary soccer hero from the 1939 Copa América victory. He was the youngest of five siblings-Herbert, Hector, Dario, and Lourdes. Their bond was unbreakable, and it ultimately led all of them to make the same life changing decision to come to the United States in search of new opportunities.

His first great adventure began when he left his hometown of Charcana, high in the mountains of Arequipa, and made his way to the coastal city of Callao in 1952. That decision set the course for the rest of his life. In 1956, at a very young age, he enlisted in the Peruvian Navy-an experience that shaped his character and introduced him to the shores of the United States. From that moment on, he dreamed of returning one day to build a better future for his family. Lolo was the inspiration behind what would become a multi-year immigration of several families and close friends to the US, seeking that better future. He was adventurous, humorous, and courageous, known for his hard work and the sacrifices he made to ensure his children prospered.

He was the proud father of four children: Martha Alida Villagomez, Meliza Jennifer Villagomez, Lolo Aparicio Villagomez Jr., and Patrick Anthony Villagomez. He was blessed with twenty three grandchildren and three great grandchildren, each of whom brought him joy and kept him young at heart. My dad had a passion for cooking Peruvian food, gathering with family, listening to music from his hometown of Charcana, and sharing stories from his life in Peru. His faith and devotion to family were the foundation of everything he did.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Drive, Alexandria, Virginia, 22315.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, March 28, at 10:30 AM at St. James Catholic Church, 905 Park Avenue, Falls Church, Virginia, 22046.

Inurnment will follow at 12:00 PM at Oakwood Cemetery, 401 N Roosevelt Street, Falls Church, Virginia, 22044.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 28, at 1:30 PM at Olger's home, located at 5313 Nutting Drive, Springfield, Virginia, 22151

His memory will live on in the hearts of his family forever.
