Lonnie Anderson Jr

Lonnie Anderson Jr. was born on May 27, 1933, to Bessie & Lonnie Anderson Sr. in Sumrall, Mississippi. He was the oldest of five - Gerald, Tom, Howard, and Betty. Lonnie was an amazing athlete. He was inducted to the Hall of Fame for Pearl River Community College. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1953 and was a Veteran (Korean War). Lonnie met the love of his life, Dolores, and married on April 27,1957. They had 5 children, Lonna, Ronelle, Kyle, Lonnie, and Evelyn. They lived in Hoonah where he coached and taught. In 1971, they moved to Kake, Alaska, where they raised their children. He was a coach, an educator and also the mayor for 21 years in Kake. He retired in 2002, and moved to Juneau. Lonnie became 'Poppa Anderson' to many. Dolores passed November 19, 2017. Exactly five years later, Lonnie was promoted to Glory on November 19, 2022. A celebration of life for Lonnie Anderson Jr. will be at Chapel by the Lake Church (Juneau) on Saturday, 12/3/22 at 1:30pm. All are welcome.
