Lonnie Remond Mills, 56, of Pampa, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in Amarillo.

Memorial services will be 12:30 PM, Friday, February 14, 2025, at the Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Wesly Smith, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 14, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Lonnie will be available for viewing from 1:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday and from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Friday, at the funeral home. 

Lonnie was born July 25, 1968, in Pampa to Willie and Mary Mills. He graduated from Pampa High School in 1987 and went on to obtain his Doctorate from Tarleton State University in Stephenville.  Lonnie also had a successful career playing basketball at Tarleton State University. He was a teacher with Pampa ISD for several years before he retired. After retirement, he started collecting and selling metal. Lonnie also would collect old appliances and rebuild them. Lonnie had a good work ethic and was a hard worker. 

Family was important to Lonnie, as he enjoyed spending time with them, especially his brother, Willie. Lonnie was a private person and kept his circle of friends small. It was an honor to be in his circle of friends. Lonnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool, and watching sports on TV. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his son, Tyrese Carter of Amarillo; brother, Willie D. Mills, Jr., and wife Heather Elsass of Pampa; sister, Monique Jernigan of Ft. Worth; grandson, Kamarian Carter of Amarillo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
