Mr. Lonnie R. Overbay, age 71 of Jacksboro passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Family came first for Lonnie, and he adored being a husband, father, and grandfather. He was a devoted member and Deacon of Laurel Branch Baptist Church where he dearly loved his church family. Lonnie was employed with Y-12 National Security Complex as an Iron Worker until his retirement in 2012, and was a true Tennessee Vols fan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Hudon and June (Cordell) Overbay, and father-in-law, Burgin Housley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Debbie (Housley) Overbay; sons, Toby Overbay and wife, Kristi, and Jeff Overbay and wife, Whitney; grandchildren, Haley Overbay (Anthony Gaylor), Aiden Overbay, Dylan Overbay (Macy Kibler), Harley Overbay, and Scott Overbay; brother, Don Overbay and wife, Nancy; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 4:30 – 7:00 PM at Laurel Branch Baptist Church (255 Circle Cemetery Road, Briceville, TN 37710). Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 PM with Rev. Randy Lowe officiating. Family and friends will meet on Thursday, November 13, 2025, 11:30 AM at Walters Funeral Home and proceed to Bakers Forge Cemetery for 12:00 PM Graveside Services and Interment. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to: Laurel Branch Baptist Church Deacons Fund, 255 Circle Cemetery Road, Briceville, TN 37710.
