Lonnie Harvey Sapp, age 55, of Ponce de Leon, Florida, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. He was born August 1, 1968, in Geneva, Alabama to Bennie and Gladys Goddin Sapp. Lonnie graduated from Ponce de Leon High School, class of 1987, and loved his classmates dearly. He enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening and doing yardwork. He loved New Orleans, where he lived for more than twenty years, and greatly enjoyed Mardi Gras.
Lonnie is preceded in death by his father, Bennie "Pete" Harvey Sapp.
He is survived by his mother, Gladys Sapp; two sisters, Vicky Thomas and Becky Sapp Murphy; several nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones, friends, and family.
Funeral services will be held, Friday, February 2, 2024, beginning at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 State Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433, with Pastor Larry McGowan officiating. A time of visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Committal services will follow at Old Mount Zion Church Cemetery.
Arrangements and services are under the direction of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home of DeFuniak Springs.
