Dr. Lonnie Smith

Just heard the sad news as I reside overseas, my condolences to the family, memories of Lonnie playing his piano at O'Hara s los olas in the 80,s still with me .R.I.P Ronnie

My heartfelt condolences are offered to the family, many, many friends, colleagues and devoted army fans of Dr. Lonnie Smith. Dr. Lonnie Smith was a Hammond organist known for his jazz and soul jazz music. He was greatly admired by many fellow artists and all those who knew him. May the love and many, many special memories you shared with your devoted loved one show how much your life was touched by him. May the God of comfort bless your grieving hearts with strength, loving kindness and peace as the world copes with the loss of Dr. Lonnie Smith. May his music and legacy keep his memory alive forever. Thank you for Dr. Lonnie Smith's contribution to the Jazz industry.

Being from Lackawanna myself, I can assure you that it is a serious jazz spot. Thank you Dr. Smith for all the musical joy you gave us, atleast from 1968 to present for me. RIP

With the deepest of heartache, I am saddened that we lost a muscian of such dignity and explosive talent. May heaven greet him with angels to walk him to the stage again to play for all his fans in eternal pleasure.

My condolences.

There will never be another Dr. Lonnie Smith. Just to have been lucky enough to know him is a privilege and an honor. My late friend Lonna told me our paths crossed because there were lessons in life I would learn from him which is true. He had such a positive outlook on life. His music and legacy will live on in our hearts forever. I am just one of too many to count that love and respect this man. Love you and miss you. ❤

I met him once in Detroit at Watts Club Mozambique in 1972. He was as kind a gentleman as he was the greatest organist of our time. Have been a fan every since. That meeting changed my life forever. He gave me some great tips as a amateur organ player. RIP great master.
