Lonnie was an inspiration for all of us younger guys at Tennessee Tech. He was a true Tech fan who was always supportive. Your family continues to be in our thoughts and prayers. Shown in picture: L to R. Jim Bishop, Lonnie Warwick, Jim Youngblood, Larry Schrieber

My Dad was Wilburn Tucker his football coach at Tennessee Tech. I remember when he came for a visit to Cookeville and he came to our house and sat in the living room as my Dad interviewed him. I listened from the other room. I was 10 years old and I knew something special was going to happen. And did it ever! Tech was on quarters and before he ever got on the football field he was practicing with the basketball team. My Dad had an argument with the basketball coach and explained he came to Tech for football and did he ever! The best ever to suit up!

I met Lonnie or "Big Sam" as we called him at Tennessee Tech . We dated some but not seriously. He was a good looking man and the size of a mountain
He was 6'4" weighing 240 and I was a 90 pounder. He was a good friend.

Tough linebacker, who gave it his all. And a key part of a legendary defense.
