Lonny Ray Haddox, 69, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

Born on February 1, 1955, in Henrietta, TX, Lonny was the son of the late Katherine Dosier Haddox and the late James Walter Haddox.

Enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in August of 1973, Lonny climbed through the ranks as an enlisted Marine where he reached to Gunnery Sergent in 1984. A year later he was selected for Warrant Officer during one of his many tours and was promoted to WO-1 in 1985. Then later attended Warrant Officer Basic Course at Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Va graduating 17th out of 231 Warrant Officers. After graduating he continued to climb up the ranks, from a Chief Warrant Officer/Limited Duty Officer all the way to Major, at which he retired as from the Marine Corps in September 2003. During his time in the Marine Corps career, he married his wife, Nenita Haddox, where they started a family raising two sons.

Right after retirement from the Marine Corps, Lonny went straight into the workforce as a DoD Civilian with Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center - Atlantic in Charleston, SC. Where he continued to serve his country for 20 years as a Logistician on various Marine Corps Programs supporting the Marines. One of his greatest accomplishments during his civilian career was helping lead a team to win the 2013 Secretary of Defense Performance-Based Logistics System Level Award for the Marine Corps Systems Command's Combat Operations Center program. A program under Marine Air-Ground Task Force Command, Control and Communications. Saving the Marine Corps an estimated $114 million over the course of its life cycle as opposed to other product support strategies.

Though it may seem Lonny was always career-driven, his all-time greatest accomplishments were being a loving husband to his wife and a fantastic father to his two sons. His whole family meant the world to him, and he would do anything for them to make sure they were always taken care of. When it came to his family's needs, work was placed on the back burner and his family came first.

When he wasn't working, he enjoyed reading history books, gardening, fishing, hiking, "inventing" gadgets/tools, carpentry, working on his 1983 Datsun 280z, traveling around the United States, volunteering at the Filipino Community Center, and spending time at the Palmetto Gun Club. His favorite thing to do though was being Granddad!!!

In addition to his parents, Lonny is preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Haddox Webb and his brother, Billy W. Haddox.

Lonny is survived by his wife, Nenita Nacar Haddox; sons, Lonny Ray Haddox, Jr. (Theresa) and James Cody Haddox (Kelsey); and his grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings, Bob Haddox of Anchorage, AK; Patsy Haddox Davis of Fort Worth, TX; Margie Haddox Norman of Aledo, TX; James Haddox of Las Vegas, NV; Carolyn Haddox Duke of Henrietta, TX; Glen Haddox of Newark, TX; Linda Haddox South of Fort Worth, TX; and Ann Haddox Goode of West, TX.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley.

Funeral Repast will be held after the funeral service at the Filipino Community Center of Charleston at 8747 Salamander Road, North Charleston, SC 29406. All guests are welcome if they would like to attend for food and beverages to continue remembering the good times with Lonny.
