It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorane "Kaye" Jones, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Born on Monday, July 25th, 1955, in Macon, Georgia, Kaye lived a rich and full life, touching the hearts of many, before peacefully departing on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026.
Kaye was preceded in death by her loving parents, James and Sara Spires; brothers, Geary and Larry Spires; and sister, Melba Mosley. Her cherished memories will continue to live on through those she leaves behind: her devoted son, Michael Jones, and his wife Crystal; adored daughters, Lisa Waits and her husband Shannon, and Danise Bennett; dear sister, Sheila Johns; and cherished niece, and best friend, Pam Holland. Her legacy also extends to her eight beloved grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who were a great source of joy and pride in her life.
Kaye was a dedicated professional, retiring as the Animal Control Officer for the County of Lowndes. Her love for animals and commitment to their welfare were a testament to her nurturing spirit and compassionate nature. A true enthusiast of Dr. Pepper, Kaye had a zest for life and enjoyed spending peaceful moments at the beach, creating cherished memories with her sister Sheila and her niece Pam.
A reception to honor and celebrate Kaye's life will be held at the residence of Michael Jones in Lizella, GA, on Saturday, January 17th, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to share memories, offer support, and pay their respects during this informal gathering.
