Loren James Forrest

LOREN JAMES FORREST, age 82, of Luverne, died of heart failure at the home farm on February 10, 2026. Through his journey of 82 years, he touched many lives with his kindness. He was born on February 12, 1943, in Luverne, Minnesota, the son of Russell and Helen (Thompson) Forrest. He graduated from Luverne High School in 1962. Following graduation, he attended Worthington Junior College for one year before he started farming and began a lifelong job with Luverne Farm Store and Gas Company.

Loren was united in marriage to Joyce Raschke in 1963. The couple lived on the home farm. Foremost, he was a farmer, but he also was an entrepreneur, and a dreamer. He was always working on "the next project."

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. Loren will be remembered for his kindness and his love for family. He looked for every opportunity to host family at the home farm, serving food he raised, and of course his homemade ice cream.

Loren is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Forrest, Luverne; son, Russell (Katie) Forrest, Luverne; grandchildren, Egypt and Fox, who brought him so much joy; sister, Darlene Forrest; twin sister, Lorna (Dale) Hansen; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Audrey Piepgras.

Visitation will be from 2-5 pm Sunday, Feb. 15 at St John Lutheran Church in Luverne. Funeral will be 10:30 am at St. John Lutheran Church, in Luverne, with Rev. Dr. Phil Booe officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
