Obituary of Lorene Ann Bolte Schmucker
Lorene Ann Bolte Schmucker
July 1, 1955 - November 12, 2025
Lorene, known as Lorrie to many that loved her, passed away peacefully at home in Morris on November 12, 2025, surrounded by her family. Family was one of the most important treasures of life and she cherished hers deeply.
Born to James and Margaret (Stebbins) Bolte on July 1, 1955, Lorrie was their first daughter and grew up second in a line of five and was probably the most feisty of them all. During her childhood, she loved to visit her Aunt Grace and Uncle Porter's farm in Wyoming, IL. She would talk about the brown eyed cow she would race to see. She always loved the outdoors; from the trees to animals, to the flowers and plants, to the sights one would see. Nature walks with her are some of the most favorite memories shared by many.
Lorrie attended Joliet schools, graduating from Joliet East High School in 1973. She then spent 25 years with the father of her only daughter, Carl Ullian. Together they raised the "Wind Beneath Her Wings", Sarah Ann. They made their lives in various spots spawning all the way to Las Vegas, but they always ended back up in the Channahon/Minooka area. Lorrie was a bus driver for many years in both towns, toting all ages back and forth to school, while Sarah rode along. She was a beautician, a paralegal, an office manager...truly a Jane of all trades. If she didn't know a way to do or fix something, she would help to figure it out.
Lorrie was a loving light to many. She loved to go out and have a good time at Gusto's or the raceway, take a good spin on a dance floor, a ride in the country, or have a good chat with a stranger. After chatting for a while at work, the love of her life arrived. In 2002, she met Chester and they were married in 2005. Lorrie and Chester definitely loved one another and brought a new way of life to each other. They were able to travel a little and build a bunch of lasting memories throughout the years. They both helped raise their granddaughter, Stephaine Raye.
Survived by her husband, Chester Schmucker of Morris; her daughter, Sarah Ullian (Jim Leja) of Wilmington; granddaughter, Stephaine Potter (LeeLee Swallow) of Morris; stepson, Samuel (Lois) Schmucker and grandchildren of Indiana. Also survived by her siblings; James (Kim) Bolte, Christine (Ron) Busby, David Bolte, and Jacque (Mike) Quiram. She is preceded in death by both her parents and a few close friends and family.
Although many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends will have fond memories, nothing will compare to those made with her nephew, Michael. The hours of baseball and laughs he brought her are irreplaceable. And a special thank you to LeeLee for kind and compassionate care given to Lorrie when the time came.
Lorrie was a private person loved by many. In the latest years, she grew her relationship with God. She has traveled the journey to be with Him and we will respect her last wishes and a service will not be planned at this time. A celebration of her life will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Cir.,
