Lorenzo Ernest Brave Heart was born on April 2, 1943 in Oglala, SD to Andrew Brave Heart and Ida (Black Elk) Blacksmith/Brave Heart. Lorenzo made his journey to the Spirit World on September 24, 2023 at the Chadron Community Hospital in Chadron, NE.
Lorenzo spent most of his youth in Oglala, SD before moving to Chadon, NE for two years with his mother than returning back to Oglala with his father until he joined the US Army where he was stationed in Germany. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he met the love of his life, Violet Little Hawk-Alford. To this union they had three daughters, Lorie, Andrea, and Lorna. Lorenzo and Violet remained together for 56 years until her passing in 2021. During these years, Lorenzo was a fire fighter, worked in Gillette, WY in the oil fields, worked for OST Property and Supply under Eugene Rooks, worked with the Prairie Dog Control Team and was a member of the Batesland American Legion POST 281. Lorenzo loved his family very much, he raised many grandchildren and was raising his great grandson, Pablito at the time of his passing. When Lorenzo was not spending time with family, he loved to go to Prairie Wind Casino with his daughters.
Lorenzo is survived by his daughters, Lorie Brave Heart and Lorna Galindo; brother, Hugh John (Jewel) Blacksmith of Minnesota; grandchildren, Tiffanee Garnier, Cody (RaChelle) Brave Heart, Roy (Tahmia) Salazar, Gene Salazar, Katherine Brewer, Kaelyn Brewer, Tayza Brave Heart, Lisa (Rico) Alford, Anjelita Galindo, Jesus (Shay) Galindo, John "JP" Galindo, Alejandro "Miko" Galindo, Michael Alford, Jared (Erica) Alford, Julian (Angelique) Alford, and Dr. Stephanie Big Crow; great grandchildren, Pablito Alford, Andrew, Averi, Alex, and Gianna Brave Heart, Enzo Salazar-Garcia, Matthew & Merclyn Castillo, Paisley & Amore Brewer, Esperanza Galindo, Zaevion & Zaydrian Perez, Jayceon Scheutzow, Jesus Galindo, Jr., Alaria, Mariano, Liam, Francisco, and Jessie Alford, Grayson Louis Ghost Bear, Kayden Cole Big Crow, Wayne Big Crow (Dale Vocu), Jessie Dean Big Crow, and Dale Ray Vocu, Jr., and Iwoblu Big Crow
Lorenzo was preceded in death by his significant other, Violet Little Hawk; daughter, Andrea Charmaine; father, Andrew Brave Heart; mother, Ida (Black Elk) Blacksmith/Brave Heart; brothers, Bernard "Shorty", Tilmore "Hanky Bill", and Melvin Blacksmith, Sylvester and Randall "Dewey" Brave Heart; sisters, Lora Blacksmith, Ernestine & Christine Brave Heart; grandson, Pablo Galindo; and nieces, Margaret, Anna Mae & Sandra Brave Heart.
Pallbearers will be Cody Brave Heart, Roy Salazar, Jr., Gene Salazar, Howard Little Hawk, Fredrico Perez, Jared Alford, Jesus "Lorenzo" Galindo, John "JP" Galindo, Alejandro Galindo, George Janis, Thomas Patton, Jr., and Pablito Alford.
