Loretta J. (Urban) Becker, 81, born in Schenectady, NY on January 21, 1944, passed away on December 24, 2025, at home surrounded by her family.
Adored by her family, she was the mother of Robert E. Becker (Deidre), Deborah (Becker) Danz, Catherine St. Clair (Lee) and Anne Behan (Tom). She was an amazing and doting grandmother (Grams) to Janet, Jennifer, and Jess Danz and grandma to her fur babies, Jasper, Bentley, and Jaggar. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Irene Urban, and younger brother John (Jack) Urban.
Lori was a graduate of Mildred Elley and SUNY Oswego. Her occupation began at General Electric (GE) and she retired from SUNY SCCC after a 37-year career. Her favorite activities were spending time with family, friends, and her three compassionate, intelligent, and beautiful granddaughters, Janet, Jenn, and Jess. Like her Grandma Babci taught her many Polish recipes, she liked teaching others how to bake and cook. She spoiled many with her delectable brownies and willingly shared her secret recipe. Flower and veggie gardening were favorite hobbies and she eagerly awaited biting into a fresh tomato every harvest. Selecting the perfect flower and enjoying their unique color and scent was something that brought her joy every spring and summer. She relished in sharing her love of sewing, scrapbooking, ancestry research, puzzles, and reading. Loretta’s genuine, caring, and charitable nature touched everyone with a friendly chat, a warm smile, and always an offer to help and support.
We offer our sincere thanks to Albany Medical Center – MICU and the Nurses and Team from Community Hospice, who compassionately cared for Loretta in her final days.
