Loretta Jordan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery - Gadsden on Dec. 8, 2025.
Loretta Young Jordan, age 82, of Gadsden, AL, passed away peacefully while in hospice care at Riverview Regional Medical Center. Loretta was born to Virgil and Evelyn Young May 22, 1943 and spent most of her life in Gadsden.

Loretta was a hard worker and had a varied work career. She worked at South Central Bell for a period and took time off to have a baby and stay home with her children. After a while she went back to work and worked alongside her husband at Hugh's Pharmacy. While there, she was offered and accepted a job with Gadsden Regional Medical Center from which she retired in 2008. Loretta was an avid reader, often times finding herself absorbed in 2-3 books simultaneously. She found joy in gardening; she could make anything grow! She was remarkable at baking, especially known for her cheesecakes and Christmas goodies. When her granddaughters came along she found room to be a good Nana and chief chauffeur.

Loretta is survived by her husband, Craig Jordan, son, Stephen Jordan (DeAnna), daughter Hunter Robinson, granddaughters Parker Robinson (Anderson) and Olivia Robinson . She is preceded in death by her parents, grandmother, Dessie Sherrell, sisters Merle Taylor and Judy Kilgore.

Visitation will be held at Crestwood Funeral Home Tuesday December 9th from 1-2pm with a graveside service immediately following.

The Jordan family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to our friends who have supported us throughout this distressing disease, to Enhabit Hospice( Bridgett, Jennifer, Bre, Chaplain Clay, Brandon, Kylie, Tammy, Karen, Whitney, Lori, Leah) for their compassionate and exceptional care, Hugh's Pharmacy (Jennifer) and to Hannah Chavers Huff for providing much needed respite care. We are eternally grateful for all of you.
