Loretta Sue McFarland, age 62, of Springfield, Illinois, gracefully entered eternal rest on October 21, 2025, in the comfort of her home. Born on June 13, 1963, in Springfield, IL, to the late Charles Wilson and Cathrine (Slaughter) Crawford, Loretta lived a life full of compassion, laughter, and purpose. After receiving her high school education, she pursued higher learning at Richmond College, where she cultivated the knowledge and heart that would guide her life's work.
Loretta dedicated her career to the Youth Service Bureau, where she retired as Assistant Director. Her passion for helping others, especially children, was evident in every aspect of her life. She had a remarkable gift for reaching young people-encouraging, educating, and empowering them to rise above challenges. Through her work, Loretta helped countless families with fostering, feeding, housing, and finding employment, leaving an everlasting impact on the community she loved so deeply.
Loretta had a radiant smile, great sense of humor and was also the most fun and loving person to be around. Loretta brought light wherever she went. She cherished every moment spent with her family and friends, who were truly the center of her world.
Loretta leaves to cherish her memory two beloved children, son Larry M. Holmes and daughter Sparkle L. Kincaid, both of Springfield, IL; four granddaughters-her close granddaughter Jasmine N. Brewer, Chyna Kincaid, Italy Jackson, and Lyrika Holmes; four grandsons-her close grandson Larry Holmes Jr., Antwon Bell Jr., Latavius Noah, and Egypt Jackson; and two precious great-granddaughters, Skylar Renicks and Jayaura Bell. She is also survived by three brothers, Ronnie Wilson, Darnell Wilson, and Benthy Wilson, all of Springfield, IL; and five sisters, Kasandra Edoradu, Linda Wilson, Brenda Foday, Ramona (Maurice) Sanders, and Dorthy Wilson. A very special cousin, Kokela Slaughter, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and dear friends, will forever hold her memory close.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth McFarland; her grandson, Angel Mikel Kincaid; her parents, Cathrine Crawford and Charles Wilson; her siblings, Chris Wilson, Cherry Slaughter and Evalois Wilson; and her dear aunt, Gloria Brown.
