Published by Fehrman Mortuary and Crematory-Quincy, CA FD306/CR57/INS0742146 - Quincy on Oct. 28, 2004.
Loretta Kay Stringfellow age 63, peacefully passed from this life early Thursday morning October 28th, 2004 at Plumas District Hospital located in Quincy, CA with family at her side following a valiant year and one half battle with lung cancer. Born in Culver City, CA to Hugh and Etta Gant on November 4th, 1940. The family moved to Oroville, CA where Loretta was raised and educated, graduating from Oroville High School as a member of the class of 1958. Loretta moved to Quincy, CA from Oroville in 1970 where she began a thirty two year career serving the residents of Plumas County as a clerk in the Tax Collectors office. Shortly thereafter she met the love of her life, Alan Stringfellow whom she married on November 20th, 1971 in Reno, Nevada. Loretta enjoyed the outdoors and while spending time during her youth in Indian Valley, developed a love of horses. She especially enjoyed participating and competing in equestrian events. She extended this bond to restoring carousel horses while also enjoying the workings of carousels in later life. Through her love of the outdoors Loretta developed a respect for the environment and fought hard through the Plumas County Chapter of California Women in Timber to insure the multiple use of our forests for generations to come. She served as a president for the organization for the 1996-1997 year. Loretta always kept family first and her family remained her greatest love. She gained great pleasure in spending time in the Black Rock Desert region of Northern Nevada with her husband and grandchildren. Loretta could be found regularly watching family and friends at the local races. Loretta is survived by her husband of close to thirty three years Alan of Quincy, CA, children, Lisa Davis and Casey Stringfellow both of Quincy, CA and Michele Warren of Bangor, California, brother Kent Gant of Yerrington, Nevada and sister Janice Salinas of Quincy, CA along with the joys of her later life her eleven grandchildren. Loretta will be missed by a host of dear friends and will be remembered by those in the community as one who always put the thoughts and need of others before her. A celebration of Loretta's life will take place at noon Saturday November 13th, 2004 at the Quincy Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. An opportunity to express your condolences along with signing the memorial guest register is available online at www.fehrmanmortuary.com.
